Saly - so sorry that I did not answer you sooner - have been away from electronics, busy with various other projects, for the past week or two. To answer your question - Box Turtles rarely bite unless very provoked. Of course, they do bite their food! That sharp, beak-like mouth is perfect for eating a wide range of foods: mushrooms, fruits, snails, earthworms, etc. One of my captive (injured and being rehabilitated) box turtles once ate a mouse that wandered into his pen!! (not sure how he caught it...)

When I SCUBA dive, I keep my fingers close to me because while most fish are not aggressive and will not attack, they often have very poor eye sight and tend to mistake your fingers for little fish....

I missed this the first time around too. Great series. I love those little thieves. Even when they are pillaging my backpack.
