Default Back to Conowingo

First time back to the dam this year, not too much activities yet (too many juveniles) - Need to come back then...
I was hoping to re-capture this: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/wi...ish-relay.html

Fantastic series, I really like the 2nd shot.

I went to Conowingo last Thursday and I had a blast shooting bald eagles.

Thank you for posting.

I was there Thursday too (9:00 - Noon), by the water on the lower boardwalk
Not much fighting that day...

Excellent shots as expected! Sharp and beautiful even in bad weather!

I was on the left of the last picture (out of the frame) on the steps (2-steps up) shooting downward:
1. The background is better (i.e. water only when aimed downward)
2. The camera's AF also worked better at picking the eagles

-> I tried down there before closer to the water edge, like thoses folks with their lenses nearly horizontal, but the AF used to hunt between the eagles and infinity wasting valuable time...

It's not the lenses:
1. First image 1D MrkIII with the Bigma @ 500mm
2. 2nd picture D800 with @ 800mm (400 f/2.8 + 2x)

-> The actions happened very fast so most of the time you either get lucky or it's operator error
