Beside most BIF need the higher shutter speed anyway...
yeah, but that tripod mount makes a great carry handle, and this isn't a lightweight lens!

a couple of the sample images seemed a bit soft, but like you said, a bit of sharpening in post would probably take care of that... looks like it's time to start saving my nickels and dimes...
