I picked up a re-furbished one from Adorama with the kit 10-30mm lens for only $349 from their weekly mailing list

-> It's AF is amazingly fast, and also shoot @ 10fps!
Have my eye on one at KEH but have read very contradictory views on using manual focus glass on it. One said it worked, the other said it was impossible to get the focus right

Many thanks. Ordered a refurb from Adorama off ebay last night for $259. Another $15 for a PK adapter and if it all works I haven't even spent $300. My first DSLR was an Oly E500 with the smallest viewfinder of any at the time and I could manual focus with that, an N1 V1 should be no harder I would think.

Good luck

IMO being a 2.7x cropped camera, just like most APS-C dSLRs, the Nikon 1 uses only the centrally best part of the lens and that's probably why their images came out so sharp...

Thanks.

The crop factor should come in handy if I want to use my smaller, less stellar lenses since even they will be sharp in the center.

Not that the pics will look nearly as good as yours!

As you should be with IQ like that. A smart way to get 800mm f/2.8 ability.
Very impressive. Have you been able to get any BIF? The true test for the AF.

Not yet, but I'll try this first with my 400mm: http://nikonrumors.com/2012/01/17/so...n-2160mm.aspx/

-> This is some nifty camera: http://www.eoshd.com/content/9821/ra...h-the-nikon-v1

Here you go... The chance finally presented itself this week for BIF on the V1:
