Default Poor's Man SigMonster

Sigma new 120-300 f/2.8 OS S with a Nikon_1 camera (x2.7 crop factor), ~300-800 f/2.8 equivalent:

Nice shots but at the price of a 120-300/2.8 I think that is beyond what a poor man can afford. I know it's beyond what this one can But i had no idea how cheap the older N 1 cams are. Interesting idea, I assume it involves an adapter?

I kind of agree, however figuratively the 120-300 f/2.8 is:
1. Less than 1/2 the cost of the Sigmonster
2. A 1/3 of the weight of the 300-800
3. and 4x brighter (i.e 2-stops faster), f/2.8 vs f/5.6 on a Nikon_1.

Took this outfit on the lake for a tryout today:

The verdict, I'm really pleased!

More excellent shots. You have me seriously thinking about an N1 as an alternative to my DSLR. Alas i don't shoot Nikon so it'd be a manual only camera but with some awesome reach from smallish lenses, or incredible reach with my 400/4.

As they say "it's all relative"

These pictures are very sharp! Which Nikon 1 did you used? There are different generation/versions of Nikon 1.

The very 1st one, Nikon 1 V1 (it's also tagged in the EXIF data).
I picked up a re-furbished one from Adorama with the kit 10-30mm lens for only $349 from their weekly mailing list

-> It's AF is amazingly fast, and also shoot @ 10fps!
