Default Forster's Tern

Snapped these picture above the lagoon off the Bill Osborne Model Flying Field in Alameda CA.

looks a lot like the Caspian terns we get up here, except for those long tail feathers... nice shots!

Looks like a difficult bird to catch in flight, you did good.

Sometimes I have a hard time to differentiate them. They all pretty much look alike until you look at the tail feathers and the bill. The Caspian Tern is larger and has a thicker bill.

Forster's Tern is easier to photograph. They normally hovers in the air before they dive into water. The most difficult one I encountered is the Elegant Tern who are fast and has a crazy flying pattern.
