Default Hooded Mergansers

Taken at Bay Farm Island lagoon in Alameda.

One of my favorite waterfowl. You go some great detail on these guys & gals. Perfect light.

I only saw them twice. The first time was last year and they swimming away fast so the picture didn't come out very well. This time they were sleeping on the water. I had to wait for about 1/2 hour for them to wake up before I could take their pictures. It really made my day.

Excellent shots and great light. Not easy to get close to them!

I was lucky because the Mergansers happened to be in a small and narrow lagoon. They were not too far away from me. In fact they were so relaxed they were dozing off on the water.
