Default Anna's hummingbird

caught this little Anna's perched momentarily - VERY momentarily! - on a branch at the park the other day... though i followed her for a good 15 minutes, she wouldn't give me the flash of magenta under her throat, nor hover in one place long enough to even get the lens on her for a flight shot... had to settle for this "resting" shot from about 10 feet away. but i'll take it nonetheless... 7D, 550mm, 1/2000 @ f/6.3

Was that taken with your Tamron lens? That is a gorgeous photo. I got a Tamron 150 - 600 lens and started taking some practice photos with it. I have been following your purchase and the photos you've been taking with this lens. I'm impressed. Nice photos.

Rocky, I have never been able to take a picture of a female Anna's Hummingbird. This one is really nice!

Beautifully sharp. Very well done! The gorget feathers have to be at the right angle to the light to show iridescent color. Interesting phenomena.

thanks, Pitter! yeah, ducks with iridescent feathers are the same way - the light has to be just right. it's just harder to catch with a hummer, since they move so quickly. this one wouldn't turn and give me the right angle for the gorget... wish she had, but oh well... there's always next time!
