pelagic cormorant

pelagic cormorants are found along the Pacific coasts of the US and northern Russia/Siberia, mainly in inland waters. in the US, they are found up and down the west coast, as far south as California. they're smaller than the much more common double-crested cormorant, and have an iridescent sheen to their feathers which their larger cousins lack, and their faces are red, rather than orange. 7DII, 550mm, 1/2000 @ f/7.1

Beautiful detail. The water even looks in focus and gorgeous.

I saw some Pelagic Cormorants on a rock near the Golden Gate Bridge but were too far for my Sigma 150-500mm lens to reach at the time. I could only see them with a pair of binoculars.

This shot is truly great! :cool2:
