Default black-headed grosbeak

this handsome fellow showed up in a willow tree this afternoon at my "bird park"... shot from about 30-35 yards away, so these are pretty heavy crops. 7DII, 600mm, 1/2000 @ f/7.1

thanks, WCKSer! i've definitely been getting more shots this year... partly due to the beautiful weather that's let me get out more often, and partly due to that lovely Tamron lens that lets me get closer, clearer shots than i ever could with my 100-400...

They look great despite the heavy crops. That lens is a dandy.

Really beautiful photography. I've not seen a black headed grosbeak. Very colorful little fella.

thanks, Tangula... this year was the first time i'd found one since 2007... they're around, i hear 'em back in the trees, but they rarely come out and let themselves be photographed...
