Default a molting pied-billed grebe

a somewhat different view of a pied-billed grebe... a friend on another forum tells me this is not a juvenile, but an adult in molt; it's apparently lost most of its primaries in the transition from breeding plumage to non-breeding, and is waiting for the feathers to grow back in. i'd never seen an adult grebe look like this, so i assumed it was a youngster that had not yet gotten all its flight feathers...

Out where the rivers like to run, I stand alone, and take back something worth remembering...
