Default North American Bluebird Pair

Had a bit of fresh snow yesterday which has been unusual this winter that wasn't, last week was mostly in the 40s and 50s and then we had a sudden cold snap and snow which brought the birds out to feed this morning.

I was happy to see among the titmouse and downy, hairy and red bellied wood peckers my pair of bluebirds decided to pay a visit. I grabbed the E-M1 w/the 50-200mm mounted and set it to shutter priority 1/800 and +1.0 EV for the snowy background and grabbed a few shots.

The male was a bit further away and I had to crop at least 50%

The female was a bit closer and she's also a little bigger so I barely cropped this shot as she gave me a stern look.

very nice! love bluebirds, but we don't get them on this side of the Cascades... i have to drive up over the pass into eastern Washington to see them in spring and summer. yours look much like our western bluebirds here. the mountain bluebirds don't have the orange, and are all in shades of blue... very pretty.

Out where the rivers like to run, I stand alone, and take back something worth remembering...
