Default a golden (crowned kinglet) sort of day

Went to a nearby wildlife refuge this afternoon to check on a great horned owl's nest... mom was still sitting, and refused to show herself. Got some creepers and wrens and butterbutts, then stopped at Hawks Prairie on the way home. Jackpot! Found a most cooperative male gold-crowned kinglet that posed for me about 25 feet away, in the open, in great light, and gave me a good 2-3 minutes in the same place! Nemesis bird no more!

Love these Rocky.

It always happens, once you track down that "lifer" you start to find them everywhere.

Thanks, Mike. I never had that much trouble finding one, it was getting a decent photo that always eluded me! These shots definitely ended that drought!

I guess bird photography takes the same kind of patience fishing does. Long dry spells punctuated by sheer joy. Glad you were able to check this one off your list, Rocky. Beautiful poses and colors.

Thanks, Robert... yeah, you're right. It's all about patience, and learning to enjoy and appreciate moments like this when they come along!
