Default Aussie Little-Kingfisher taking a break

G'day all

Saw this bloke + a mate coming and going from this old wooden fence, so after waiting patiently for a while, I got lucky ... so did he after a while, but he flew away to enjoy his catch

exif- Panny FZ-200 at max zoom [625mm film camera equiv]; 1/640s x F4; ISO-100

As always, feedback welcome

Phil

Nice! Your kingfishers sure look different from ours!

G'day Rocky

Yeah mate - I have noticed that while most of our birds are the same as northern hemisphere ones, some others are quite different ... the most noticeable as found 200+ years ago were black swans vs white swans

Our pelicans are stark black & white - no browns at all as are our magpies. The feral Indian Miner is the same brown & black body with white splotches in the wing feathers; the feral English sparrow is the same brown colour as its northern mates and the feral starling is bluish-black like its northern mate. [all ferals brought here by "well meaning" people who wanted to be reminded of 'home']
