I'm usually birding out near Boston and all I've been seeing as been Catbirds. Not many mocking birds yet.

They are fun, though. I've heard them imitate car alarms and cell phones. Good for a laugh when you're out in a state part and you here the cycling high/low sound of a car alarm.

i'll have to find one and see what kind of things i can get it to imitate...cuz i've never seen one do anything that weird.....it may have imitated other birds....but nothing like car alarms....

thanx for the comments. mocking birds are strange and interesting. i've never heard one imitate anything but other birds. most i've heard imitate 5 or 6 other birds. if a male is in the neighborhood looking for a mate he will sing constantly day and night and be a real nuisance. someone mentioned catbirds. i've seen and heard a few of them recently too.
