A new visitor came to my favorite haunt today which was quite nifty. However, I didn't adjust my exposure properly so I blew a good shot. Oh well, I'm learning to accept this in wildlife photography. I'll get the pair next time (there's two of them: Horned Grebes) as long as they decide to hang around for a bit. Below are 2 photos that I consider relatively successful of birds I'vepreviously photographed, but love, and one, the Grebe, that is a first photo for me and a first recording of it's existence here I decided, on second thought, not to post. It was just too underexposed. I'll hopefully get a good one of it next time around.

Avocet feeding again

Yellowlegs

I replaced the underexposed Grebes with a little bit of overexposed action from the Avocet. This Avocet stood on one leg for about 5 minutes. I have about 30 shots of it and didn't even notice this until download.I can't balance like that on one leg.

Atiny shot of what I mean with the leg thing

oh my gosh norm!!! these are fantastic! i'm not sure how they can get any sharper! great composition, focus, DOF, colors! great job!

have you tried photoshopping the Grebe? it might be worth a try! depends on how underexposed though.....

Thanks Vito, yes, I thought about that but decided it would be better to go out and try to get a better shot before posting. Thanks, as always, for your immediate input.

no problem i love looking at the pictures of the birds and other wildlife, makes me wanna go shoot....

oh yeah....i really like the reflections on your avocet shots! and the tiny details like the second avocet picture, you can see the bill get really thin then bend down sharply, just amazing.....

have a nice day!(night/afternoon/evening/morning) <-pick the one that applies
