Went to a new place, called Almaden Lake park in south san jose. Here are some flight shots that I took. I keep forgetting to turn off IS for these shots.

This guy wasmaneuvering like a F16.

Then I saw this guy just appear right on top of my head. Sun was directly in the way. On this shot, the bird is blocking the sun.

Great in-flight captures bobbyz! These look to be all Great Egrets.

That second shot is wonderful. Except for a little bit of motion blur in the head area, you've captured it beautifully. The bird's pose is so graceful - it looks like it's performing in a ballet. Also, notice the feathers on the neck and the way in which the wind pressure is pushing them backwards emphasizing the feeling of action in the shot.

Thanks, bobbyz!

Thanks geoffs.

I need to work on my birds in flight technique. Problem is that when I am shooting birds on the ground and all of sudden birds appear up in the sky, I forget to change my camera settings.
