:-)That first shot reminds me of a tall lanky model, getting ready to strut the catwalk. Nice shot.

One of the best sites that I know for bird identification is the cornell lab of Ornithology's site "all about birds":
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/program...rds/BirdGuide/

It's only down side is that the quality of their pictures is a little uneven. I've never listened to their audio clips of the birds, so I don't know how good those are.

A quick look shows this is a Snowy Egret:

Their white coat makes them hard to photograph, you did a good job with these.

Welcome back from vacation, Eric!

The only thing I might add to what Eric already stated is that if the Cornell website doesn't enable you to id the bird, and either I or Eric or someone else up here can't figure it out, then the absolute best place to go for bird id requests is Bird Forumwhere without question the finest bird id'ers you can find hang out. But exhaust all other possibilities first...

BTW, like Eric said, it's a Snowy Egret and nice captures.

That's a cool looking bird. Are you experiencing what I'm experiencing right at the moment, migration things? I'm seeing a few birds that I haven't seen lately and am sure that it's the southern migration that's causing it. In any event, neat looking bird, especially the bill.

Good to be back. Ignoring the bad weather and car trouble, I had fun on vacation.

Migration is great, isn't it? While Normcar had the warblers up there in Canada (you are up there, right?) I didn't have any. Now they are just starting to fly through on migration. I so want to get out and see them!

Eric, Thanks for the site references but I can't seem to get into the Cornell main site. Spends 5+ minutes just loading before I finally quit. Any other suggestions?

Weird. When you say "main site" do you mean www.cornell.edu, or that link I gave? Its worked for me every time.

www.birdforum.com is also a really good place for getting a weird bird id made. Thinking about that, I've got some pictures I need ID'd so I should think about going back over there...
