I was sifting through more old pictures for an estate I donate pictures too and bumped into this black and white warbler. It didn't start out too good, but some contrast and selective sharpening and I think its fairly good.

Not my best, but good enough to me to post. What do yo all think? I really wish that out of focus branch on the top left weren't there... then the shot would be noticably better.

I don't remember the camera settings....
Canon 10D, 100-400L @ 400... 1/250? f5.6? 200ISO hand held, RAW.
PhotoShop: RAW convert, neatimage, curves, various sharpening.

Eric, I think this is a really fine shot of a b/w warbler. The only problem I have is what you already pointed out, that OOF branch overhead. I'm not normally a proponent of cloning but in this case I'd say that it's warranted!

If the branch were over that background only (and not the leaves/greenery) it would be gone already. Poof! But I am not good enough with cloning to clone the leaves back in place.

Maybe someone else is? I don't mind if someone tries!

Eric, as you state, it would be a lot of work to clone the branch out because of the varied background. Because of the amount of work, it would be best if done on the original so it would be done only once.

I'm not sure I'm good enough to clone it out either but I'm willing to try on the original if you want to send it to me... (I'll send you my normal email address in a private message).
