This little guy allowed me to get pretty close, usually they're gone in the blink of an eye.

Yeah, isn't it funny how most sparrows other than House Sparrows are so flitty and easily spooked... :-)

This little guy looks to be a White-Crowned Sparrow and you did pretty good in getting him to sit still for you. I like the shot, the only problem being that the shrub he is sitting in is rather busy and makes it a bit difficult to make him out.

I'm inclined to agree with geoff on the busy background. Great shot of a really neat looking bird. Sometimes we have no control over the backgrounds...definitely not like studio shooting.

nice shot suzan...i agree about the busy background...but you got the bird sharp...which is very good
