These guys are on endangeres species list. Shot from boardwalk at Palo Alto baylands. He/she was hiding below.

Wow, I'm surprised he allowed you to get as close as you appear to be. What a nice thing to be able to say you've seen this bird.

The light seemed real harsh but you did a good job getting his head and bill well exposed.

Congratulations on capturing a rare one, bobby. I'm sure it feels real good and I'm surprised that you could hold your camera so steady in a situation like that.

It seems at this park where these guys are found, they are somewhat used to people. The signs on the boardwalk did say that these guys are hiding most of the time, so I feel lucky to have seen it on the very first time I visited.

Regarding light, the setting sun was falling directly on him and I was facing sun, but still happy with the results.
