I propped this unsuspecting little guy up on a rock for a close up.

Doesn't look as though he minded too much !

A nice picture, but it's a pity that his eyes are not quite in focus - if possible, a smaller aperture would help by giving greater depth-of-field.

It has to be said that your son is the better looking of the two :G

What I like here... I like the crop. We all know what a turtle looks like; your composition forces our eyes where you want us to look.

I have played with the crop on this one a lot. I tried putting his head in the upper right corner using the thirds rule. I have so much to learn. Getting caught up in the emotion of the moment makes it hard for me to remember everything to get the best shot, but I'm noticing more and more the more I practice.

That's too bad about the eyes, though. Hopefully, I'll get another chance in the future!
