we have a lot of these here in the local wetlands. Ive always found them hard to photograph, exposure Wise that is.

A pair of ol' coots! They are neat because they have padded feet, not true web feet like mallards.

They are pretty wary and I've not had success getting close enough to take their picture. Their coloring makes it hard to see detail, but you've done a fine job here.

Yep, nice capture. The thing that intriqued me most the first time I saw one of these critters was the gulping cluck sound it made from time to time.
