Took this one while out photographing the fall sparrows. I just love that background.

Camera: 10D 600mm +1.4TC 1/750 f5.6 ISO400 RAW
PS: neatimage, crop, contrast, sharpen, reduce

That is Autumn (Fall) all over, nice colours and composition! Beautiful. I have 4 cousins who are all ornathologists, one of whom has had a book published. One of them, once spent about a month on a mountain top in mexico, counting migrating birds...nice work if you can get it. They have now got my brother into it, who was in Africa for4 years, and now I am leaning towards nature and bird photography here in Spain! Trouble is getting the time to do it! I will look forward to maybe seeing YOUR book oneday Eric.

All the best and keep up the nice work....

Eric, was that f5.6 with the 1.4tc? Which 600mm do you have, the Canon 600 F4L?:-)

Muscle building time

I'm glad you all liked it. When the bird landed there I knew I a winner. I have several shots where the wing was crisp but the head wasn't in the DOF, so I was very happy when I saw this one.

Yes, that is the Canon 600mm f4 IS with the Canon 1.4TC. So I was at smallest aperture so I could get the fastest shutter speed. This was taken within an hour or two of sunrise in a garden surounded by trees. I needed as much light as I could get to stop it (kinglets are usually described in books as "hyperactive" and they mean it. After trying to shoot a yellow crowned kinglet I almost went and purchased a 1D MkII. The 10D just couldn't focus fast enough.)

Beautifully composed and executed. Tack sharp, just good to look at. So good Eric, as always.
