Default Black-Crowned Night Heron

A great pose... 300mm @ f/8 with a little fill flash (thus the off-angle shadow on the throat -- oops!).

This pose really does look like one they might use in a diorama [chuckle]...

Default Great shot, Ron

Did you use any kind of flash extender?

Default Flash extender

If you mean something like a fresnel to concentrate the flash (e.g. Better Beamer), no... I don't use one. If you are firing the flash at a subject beyond about 40 or 50 feet (or want to use it at shorter distances using a smaller aperture for greater depth of field) those are a really good idea though. Just haven't gotten one yet because I rarely use fill flash for nature shots (I was using it during this shoot as I was also training my client in the use of the flash).
