Walking in the park few weeks ago came across this Kookaburra it had just caught itself a snake,came back half hr later and it had half eaten it,i ended up taking 26 photos of it in various angles.

Was he sitting in an old gum tree?? We grew up singing that song...I just couldn't resist!!:lol:

Nice timing,
I can't help but wonder if that bird is related to the Kingfisher family. With that big head and beak it sure looks like it could be.

Hi guys thanks for looking,answer to your to questions.Yes he is sitting in a gum tree and the Kookaburra is the biggest of the fingfisher family.

cool shot, I see a few of these birds on my country courier run daily but have never seen one with a snake:-)
