I had the chance to shoot some pictures of these Coots up close as they grazed on the bank before getting spooked and heading back to the water.

smac, these don't seem sharp, were they moving fast? Also it is tough to expose for their bill. I had good luck getting some closeups by sitting on the ground and letting the coot come to me.

Hummm, that's disappointing. They were practically standing still. Maybe I screwed them up in photoshop. I was only about thirty feet away. They seemed sharper when I was editing the pictures. I will go back and take a look. Thanks for the comments.
