This guy was busy fishing at my local park. After he got his meal, he landed at a spot closer to my car and I was able to take some shots.

The next one is with the 1.4x TC.

Very nice captures, Bobby. The flight shot is neat but the detail in the closeups of pictures #2 and #3 steal the show. I think you've "ruffled his feathers" in the last picture...

Thanks Geoffs. There was a birder watching him and he was busy keeping an eye on him, so I was able to drive my car near to his perch. But when I pointed my lens at him, it gave me the look and then went on to eat his meal. This guy is very shy, I can only approach him in my car. Wish I had longer lens. Even at 560mm, I had to crop out approx 30%.

:?Wow Bobby, nice job. You got great deatail iln you shots. Just guessing, but it looks like he may have a trout.

What lense are you using for this. Any details you can share? Do you use anything special on sharpening to bring out the feather detail?

Lovely shots bobby, that's a great looking bird and you do it justice. The gnarled twigs in the foreground seem to blend in nicely.

I don't get jealous very often but you got me going here.

Those last two shots are to kill for!!

The last one is one of the best osprey shots I have seen, ever.

What a great catch with the hair raised up like that.

Great catches Bobby. I think I would be a little nervous if one of these
was looking at me like he was looking at you in #3!!

Thanks everyone. Using the car as a blind does work. I couldn't come closer than 100-150 feet with this guy, if I was walking by myself but with the car, I could come much closer. I didn't want to disturb his meal so didn't go too close.

Golfer - I was using 100-400L on my 10D. the first 2 shots were without the teleconverter but the last one is with the cheap tamron 1.4x TC. No special things in PS. Only applied USM. Maybe I did more as I see halos in these shots. I didn't see them on my home screen, maybe it is low resolution of my laptop display.

Do you use a window mount when shooting in the car? Beanbag? Or just rest on the window?

Either way, these are great shots. Keep it up.

Just hand holding it. Need to get a bean bag to provide better support. Might get the window mount but I need to buy the ball head before that.
