All of these were taken with the Drebel, 135-400, 420EX flash with a home-made diffuser. Comments welcome.

Hi Houston, great looking pose in the first and neat background in the second. I think the third is showing results of a 1/60th shutter, a touch blurred. It certainly looks like your makeshift flash diffuser is working as I see no telltale signs of direct hard light from a flash in these shots.

I get a kick out of the bird's expression in the first one.

Not bad considering the shutter speeds. It does look like the homemade
diffuser is doing a decent job.

Houston, nice ones considering the shutter speed. Doesn't rebel allow higher flash synch speed?

Bobby, Normcar and Woodmeister. Thanks for replying. I think my problem on these shots were that I was experimenting with a cut-out vitamin C bottle as a diffuser and wasn't paying enough attention to anything else. On the last one I had changed from shutter priority to aperture priority and just plain forgot to look. I lost a lot of good shots because of that. The little guy was right there in front of me giving me all kinds of good poses and I was sitting in a lawn chair afraid to get up so I could get down lower for a better shot. Give me time. I'll get there I hope. :-)
