PeterP, were the colors of this bird really that light? I've seen many Great Gray pictures lately (gotta love this eruption) and they are usually darker than this. Just wondering.

Nice find. I've been waiting for these to get to me. Hopefully mid Feb. One was seen in Maine last week (or so.)

That last picture looks like it was sticking up its head. Do you know if it was looking at something (I've seen that as a pose from other birds when looking at a food competator, like a harrier or hawk.)

Keep posting them, I love em!

Ya, I thinksomething got its attention,it was right after that lastshot that it took off.

Before that it was just sitting there watching cars go by. Its head whirling around to see where each car went.

I don't think the colors would be that light if the sun wasn't so strong, that wire it is sitting on should normally be black.

May be time to take some time-off from work and go looking for them again, waiting for the next weekend is going to be tough.


I missed a hawk in my back yard was maybe 10 feet from the window, don't know if I want any pictures of a young hawk shredding a junco though.
