No problem, Norm. Hairy's and Downy's in the field can often be mistaken if there are no size clues. Sometimes it's even tough to tell them apart based on bill length as individual variation can confuse even that characteristic.

That last picture you posted does look to be a Hairy. The length of the bill compared to the front-to-back dimension of the bird's skull looks about right to me.

Great shots. Good defintion considering it was a cloudy day!! The second
shot is cute. You just got to love these little guys.
