I was out at one of the small lakes in a state park near home today. It's
still pretty frozen over. Usually see some sort of bird action there, but it was
dead. So Started walking around, and low and behold I came across this
guy. Went crashin through the rhododendron after him and finally got
these shots. Was really suprised at the low noise @ ISO 800

All shots 20D, 100-400L, ISO 800. All shots are full frame.

f/5.6, 1/100sec, 100mm

f/5.6, 1/160sec, 400mm

f/5.6, 1/200sec, 370mm

You're running around in the woods, camera in hand, no tripod and getting pictures like these. I can't stand it Woody. Looks like I'm gonna have to spend some more money yet. Ha Ha. Seriously now those are good. Really sharp and that pink nose sets them off nicely. Been raining here all week and I can't get anything. Glad to see that you're having fun.

Cheers

Got a kick out of that line...could be taken a different way, the noise being you crashing through the rhododendron. :-)

Great shooting of a very different sort of subject. I'd like to run into one of these sometime and do it with low noise.

Thanks for viewing and the comments.

Houston - Cheer up. The sun will shine eventually. I've been lucky. It's been nice here all week, very unusual for March.

Norm - LOL!!! and thanks

Suze - Didn't have to be all that fast as these guys aren't all that fleet of foot.
