I shot these pics with my Dimage z1 I hope I can get something better later on. Not sure what the heck he is but he's really bright. I took these Photos in the local Forest that's just south of Frankfurt am / Main...








Here he's with is his Mate...

It's some kind of perching duck. In North Amereica, our equivalent is the wood duck, although of course, this is a different species.

They often nest in tree's, something I always find weird about these guys...

So they are Ducks then, humm I would've thought they were some other kind of Bird type. They don't look anything like the Mallards that they usually hang around with.

That is one wild looking duck. Looks almost like some sort of painted pool toy!

I'd agree with you smac, not that I'm any expert or anything. However, a few of our past local experts pinpointed one of these posted by someone else awhile back, can't recall exactly who, and it was definitely the same beast. Those whiskers one never forgets.

I saw that post too. It was from someone in Huntington Beach Ca. that took the picture.
