Tried all summer to get better pics than these two, [taken a little while ago] but they start to loose their tails now and get into their "winter clothes" [plain brown with a few spots]

They are rather interesting poses, although I don't think the "quality" of the pics are marvellous, but I suppose that is also what is great about photography, the challenge to get the "better" ones

That first one looks like a jet coming in for a landing. That's my favorite of the two. Nice shots. -- Steven

Incidently, the Zulu chiefs used to wear a head-piece made from many tails of these birds as a sign of their chieftanship,I suppose much like the Eagle feathers used by the Native American tribes [I hope that is politically correct ??].

Lovely birds, they look like a cross between a magpie and red winged blackbird. They've got a nice flow in flight as well, I'm sure extremely fun to watch.

Yes Norm, they are lovely birds [in Summer, that is.In winter they are just a plain ol' LBJ - Little Brown Job] Unfortunately, I haven't caught the flight action that I still want to, and that is they sort of hover in one place with the tail hanging down in a sort of "J" style. Will get it someday !

Regards
