I snuck up on a flock of geese who were waiting patiently for the river ice to thaw. It took some time to get close enough to them and to make my presence known gradually enough that they wouldn't all scatter. After about an hour or so of sneak and wait I got close enough to get some interesting shots of their territorial antics. It was extremely difficult getting proper exposure on these what with the snow and the geese themselves with their dark heads and eyes:

The running wail

The one foot honk

Paired running honk

The cold foot waddle

As always, excellent. It'sinteresting to see them in poses different to the norm (oops, the usual I should say) on occasion. They sure are being vocal though!

Thanks for looking alady and suze, they're not always so active as you can see in this slightly backlit addition to the string.

PS - they are extremely good mums and dads, even beyond the infancy stage. Their honking and such doesn't last for very long and their disputes seem to be resolved quickly; then it's nap time as you can see below:

Some pretty cool shots here Norm. Nice to see you had some sun to work
with. It's been dark and cloudy here for the past week but is finally
breaking today. BTW, I know watching these guys for a whole, you can
usually see them do all kinds of strange things.
