The past week was pretty cloudy, dark, rainy and just basically dismal.
There were a few breaks in the rain when I was able to get out and here's
a couple pics.

First the squirrel. Spottted this guy scurring through the woods from my
truck and managed to get a couple shots.

20D, 100-400L @ 400 mm, ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/250 sec, 420EX flash




Then there is this Song Sparrow. This was an experiment using a Tamron
2X converter. The shot ended up about 1 stop under exposed and needed
some NR and sharpenning. As for the sharpenning, not sure how much was
due to the converter, my manual focusing technique, under exposure or
all of the above.

20D, 100-400L @ 300 mm, Tamron 2X, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/250 sec, 420EX flash
