Took this picture tonight with my new Rebel XT with the Sigma 18-125mm lens. No processing other than conversion to jpeg and cropping.

You must be close to get this shot with 125mm. The light seems harsh to me.

Nice shot, looks like that new camera is going to work out great for you. Indeed the light is a touch harsh but it's difficult for light not to be slightly harsh in mid afternoon, and birds unfortunately won't wait for a cue to get on stage :G. Gee, it would be nice, though.

The flicker didn't mind me getting close. It was too busy working. I agree that the light is a bit harsh. I was using a polarizing filter for the first time. Some of my other shots are a bit better but the bird was not as cooperative. Also, theoriginal file size was over 7 megabytes after conversion then I cropped what I liked.
