A couple of these are with the 50-500 at 500mm and a couple are with the kit lens that comes with the d70. This is one gross looking spider, but I liked the colors.

This is with the Bigma at 500mm. I centered the spider in a flower from the background creating sort of a spotlight effect.

This is at 500mm with the flash.

These last two are with the kit lens at 70mm. This is my favorite of the bunch.

Nice job, looks like you were having some great fun, and some productive fun at that. I think that your spotlight effect is simply masterful and extremely creative. I love it and it works wonderfully.

Nice photos zoomn. When the subject can be viewed (with good detail) on a monitor or print as life size or bigger, then it's a macro.

Thanks for taking a look. Glad you liked the effect. Yes it was fun messing around with these spider photos. I would much rather be capturing some bird photos. I was trying a new spot and it was kind of a bust for birds, but I got these fun spider photos and some cool flower shots so it wasn't a total waste.

Thanks Kenny for the info on what makes a macro.
