Some photos of the variety of birds I captured yesterday on my cruise through
the woods and my various stopping points.

As usual, 20D and 100-400L and ISO 400

First, a Cedar Waxwing
365mm, f/6.3, 1/320 sec

Next, a chipping sparrow
400mm, f/6.3, 1/1000 sec

A couple song sparrows
365mm, f/6.3, 1/800 sec

I thought this was just plain cute
365mm, f/6.3, 1/640 sec

An eastern phoebe
390mm, f/6.3, 1/640 sec

A goldfinch. This was shot through a hole in the bushes. There was water
under where this guy perched and he had just finished a bath.
400mm, f/6.3, 1/1250 sec

A yellow warbler
365mm, f/6.3, 1/3200 sec

The end
400mm, f/6.3, 1/640 sec

All very well done, wm, my favorite is the warbler with the leafy perch and the tilt of the head. Nice job getting some of these at meal-time as well.

All excellent shots woodmeister. What a beautiful variety to encounter on one outing. Are they from a wildlife sanctuary? Cheers.....thekman.

Very nice Woodmeister, all of them. My favorite is the Cedar Waxwing. That is one pretty bird to me.

Woodmeister, really nice, sharp shots. My favorites would have to be the waxwing, goldfinch, and yellow warbler shots!

Thanks everyone for checking out the photos and your comments.

Norm and Geoff- I was really happy finally getting that warbler. Tried getting
photos of these guys on several occassions, but had problems with the color
oversaturating big time and killing detail. Tweaked exposure a little bit
an finally got something descent.

thekman - These photos were taken at 2 different spots. Some were taken
skulking through the bushes around a small lake and some were taken at
Bear Meadows Natural Area, which was located in a state forest near my home.
(a 10 to 30 min drive puts me in a state forest depending on which direction I go)
If your interested, here's a link describing the natural area:

Woodmeister, somehow I missed these. AWSOME! I love the gold finch and yellow warlber shots especially. I don't have one of a yellow warbler yet. The setting for the Waxwing shot is beautiful, too.
