Went out to one of my photospots yesterday and got these photos.

All photos 20D, 100-400L, Tamron 1.4X SP, ISO 400

First the song sparrow
511mm, f/8, 1/800sec

Next, tree swallow
504mm, f/8, 1/1250sec

Then I heard this loud crashing sound in the bushes. Snuck around and
spotted this buck.
511mm, f/8, 1/640sec

I was trying to get some inflight photos of swallows when I heard this really
loud sound in the sky, and this really strange bird came over the mountain.
252mm, f/8, 1/1250sec

I guess these guys were on a training mission. Happens often in my area.
Since these guys have a combat radius of around 600 miles, they could
have come from anywhere.

Now, if only I could get in flight shots of birds like this.

Thanks guys. Your right bobby on the ID. Since the area around where I live
is dominated by state forests, I guess it's prime practice area since there
aren't the flight restrictions that you have in populated areas. I recall one
day when I was up on one of the mountain ridges and was looking down
into the cockpit of an FA-18 zipping down one of the valleys.

Nice shots wm, I like the swallow best. It's a nice clean shot without anything covering the body. The others are very well photographed too. That last bird is a neat photo but the bird's too noisy (sound-wise, not photo-wise, as the photo is nice and quiet, noise-wise.

They're all great photos Woodmeister, even the A-10. My favorite is the Swallow. I don't see them around here and that is a very pretty bird.

Thanks guys. There is actually a pair that have nested in a nesting box
on the post he is sitting on. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some little ones at some point.
