A collection of various birds that I got over the weekend while I was staying
at a friends hunting camp.

All photos 20D,100-400L

Bird #1, Chickadee
365mm, f/5.6, 1/320sec, ISO 400


Bird #2, Common Yellow Throat Warbler
w/Tamron 1.4X SP, 504mm, f/8, 1/400sec, ISO 400


Bird #3, 2photos of Eastern Phoebe
w/Tamron 1.4X SP, 504mm, f/8, 1/640sec, ISO 400


This one was early morning
350mm, f/6.3, 1/500sec, ISO 400


Bird #4, Goldfinch
w/Tamron 1.4X SP, 509mm, f/8, 1/250sec, ISO 400


Bird #5, Red-tailed Hawk
And finally the big bird. This guy flew in shortly after sunset, so I needed
to use the flash for him.

Very nice shots. I really liked the small birds. They so cute.

For the hawk shots, you can edit the eyes so they don't show the flash reflection. I don't know how to do it myself but saw a refernce to it on birdsasart web site.

There were even more than I posted photos of. Among those that were around were:
chipping sparrows, white throated sparrows, titmice, cowbirds, a scarlet tanager,
hummingbirds, bluejays, a blackburnian warbler........
Unfortunately, some where to far away or I was trying to force shots under
conditions that would not work and some were just plain operator error
(Really bummed me out on the warbler, they are really pretty.)

Thanks bobby.

I was going to do that, but I wanted to see comments first because I thought
it might have been a neat effect and wanted to see what people thought first.

Edit: Played with the first one. Selected the pupil of the eye, applied levels
to darken quite a bit, then gaussian blurred to smooth things out. Here's the result.
