These 2 shots were part of a sequence of a grackle and a redwinged blackbird having a quarrel over territory (i think). 20D 100-400 @400mm iso200 f/9 1/125 EC +1 1/3. Unfortunately they are blurred.

Sometimes blurred shots work out better than if not blurred, and this is the case here. The bottom shot is spectacular IMO. It drips of emotion and fury, which is exactly what was happening. Nice job, I think you were wise to post the blurred images.

Thanx Norm!!!! you're way too kind. i was caught off guard and couldn't change my settings to get a faster shutter speed. all i heard was all this noise and turned and looked up a ways out in the swamp and there they were. it was only a few seconds and then it was over. unfortunately the grackle won and chased the blackbird away.

I agree with Norm here. This is an interesting event...

And, while blurred images usually LOSE impact, Norm is right again here.

However, I doubt if they were fighting over "territory." Territory fights take place within the same speices or very closely related species that use the same habitat.

Some other reason was involved. I could speculate, but I'm limited to saying that the Grackle called the Black Birds mother a warbler, and as you know one insult leads to another and before you know it beaks are flying...

Agree with Normcar. These are very dramatic. Just the right amount of blur to lend action.

DBB funny stuff!!
