Default I.D. my 2 birds?

I was walking around the 'hood in the Bronx, and caught these guys. They aren't pigeons or sparrows, and I know they're not eagles, and that's about the only birds I recognize. They were done with a D60 and 100-400mm lens.

The black one might be a crow...?

I don't think it's a crow. It's too small, and the crows around here have black beaks...

Howdy, Walter - The first shot would be of a European Starling. I'm not certain what the little grey fuzz-ball is - other than cute! I'm guessing it is some type of sparrow.

Nice shots!

Cool shots! Interesting note about the Starling--the whistle is very distinctive and fun to hear!

Thanks for sharing.

The gray job is a female House Sparrow - another unfortunate import from across the ocean. Unfortunate because they out compete our local native birds. But they are often found in areas where there are no native birds, only Starlings, Rock Doves and House Sparrows.
