Not a very exciting day at the swamp. As usual, the 2 great blue herons and 3 green herons stayed too far from me for any decent shots. And all the song birds were singing loud and clear but, as usual, they were hidden from my view. So, all that was left were a few dragonflies and this frog with tail. Growing out of his tadpole phase into froggie maturity. 20D 100-400mm @400mm f/7.1 1/320 EC +1 1/3 iso 400

This is a really neat shot. Looks as if this fellow is in a bowl of oatmeal gone bad.

I like it too. And I like the oatmeal analogy as well. It really fits.

"Frog in Oatmeal"

Sort of a new slogan for McDonalds to restore their image...

What dave said!! Also know what you mean about having one of those days. But then
again, it does force one to look for other photo ops that would otherwise have been missed
such as what you captured here!

thanx all for the nice comments!!!! what i noticed about these "interphase" frogs is that they tend to stay on top of the water/algae and skip across in 4 or 5 jumps with a loud squeak. most of them are too far out to get a good shot. this one scooted right after a 4 or 5 frame burst. it's been a few days now since being out with my camera. i'm starting to get withdrawl symptoms. i need a photo fix real bad and it's not likely to get to me until next week, unless you consider a family birthday a fix. nah!!! that's just a point and shoot event. oh well!!!!
