Below are a few posts of a deer that I encountered a few days ago. I was told that a deer would not be as frightened if the lens was kept to the face and it may even peek their curiosity, so I kept the 400 up to my face with this one and it moved from about 150 yards away up to about 20 feet. Quita an amazing experience. It watched me for awhile, then left the area as quietly as it had arrived:

Distant shot

Up close (too close to keep all of the body in frame)

Then gone

More of the deer (if interested):

I like the close-up of the liquid eyes....

And the poor guy has more parasites than you can shake a stick at. Not at all like a Brooklyn deer...

Of course there are NO deer in Brooklyn, but never mind...

Thanks Dave, one of the drawing factors for me is the raggedy appearance of this one who didn't flinch at the bugs, great focus.

Nice,
don't see many of those wandering in the open.

Thanks all, it was a kind deer to allow me the pleasure of getting so close. I'm impressed by it's ability to tolerate the flies :-)

nice shots, they are very pretty. I think they look a lot like a grey kangaroo in the face
