I went out telephone poling on country roads today and found a very cooperative Rough-Legged Hawk. After 20 minutes I was getting out of the car and shooting from right across the dirt road and this hawk never took flight. I did eventually get a few shots of it taking off to a tree and then right back to the same pole, but these are the first processed:

Absolutely adorable! The detail is spectacular:!:

This Hawk is a big bird, bt has "cute" features.

Great job here Norm. The color and detail is really good. I haven't spotted one on a telephone pole yet but have seen lots of them perched on the wires only to have them take flight even before I can get to a full stop. Maybe I need to go down another road huh!!!

Great shots. The first one looks like he's shocked you would have the audacity to take his picture.

Thanks all, it was a nice experience, to be sure. Bobby, I got a kick out of your comment because it was exactly what I was saying to the bird, get off that pole and fly or go to a tree. It eventually did get to a tree for about 5 minutes, but it was too much leaf, so I was glad when it returned to the pole
