As promised in a previous post.

Not a very good shot, a close crop from a too short lens I had on at the time, and only time for 1 shot before it took off.

An odd gull for our area, about 2/3 the size of one of the regulars, and a black head.
Beak is different from the standard residents as well.
Maybe it is common elsewhere.

Neatimage(lots), unsharp, crop & resize in PS CS2.

Gulls are always a nightmare to identify because of the many intermediates stages they go through until adulthood. "Two Thirds the sixe of a normal Gull" is only vaguely helpful - What is a normal Gull?

This one might be a Bonapartes Gull, A Little Gull, or possibly one or two others.

A Bonapartes Gull that has not yet started the switch to winter colors does seem to be a close description.

Probably dosen't help much, since you still can't tell the real size, but these are the "standard" ring-bill gulls we commonly get here
