Surely, any other comment on my part would be merely pouring salt into the wound. Even so, there's a certain beauty about the way a photograph can freeze the "action" so to speak....

I will state for the record, oh so useful for naturalists, that if you look carefully (although not to carefully) the great Blue Heron was particulerly prodigious in his "output," while standing on the beach at low tide.

Sori, cant let a comment slip by on these.There goes that gr8 sense of humour again. Real fun, frozen action pics Dave. As Jake andhave experienced in the Kruger, to capture these unique kindaones you gotta be in the right place just at the right time. Glad the first one didnt land on your lens. What a paint job that would have been.

These three shots will be the last from my 800mm for a while. I'm giving myself a year with the 1100...

If I had used the 1100, these would be more "graphic."

Honestly, how many times have you seen birds due do this?

It's the law of averages working here. In no way can you prepare for this, unless perhaps you bring along a 40 gallon drum of fish and then patiently sit and wait for nature to run her course.

I like the Flying Heron best. When I processed the image, I actually sat in front of the screen saying,"wow, how did he get that dental floss stuck to him?"

Then I figured it out :idea:

I actually don't mind seeing pictures of birds (or other animals) doing what they have to do :roll:. The caveat is that I just don't want to be under where they're doing it!

I firmly believe that Seagulls lighten up an other wise boring day, by targeting us. I have seen this happen, and it's not a pretty sight - although come to think of it, I do wish I had had a camera to document these things... :lol:

So, what you're saying Dave, is that seagulls are the Howler Monkeys of the avian world? :lol:

:lol::-)

No, I believe that I'm implying that I would rather have a hundred blue herons exercise their abilities in that department, than ONE seagull.
