This one came in low near my backyard as I was trying to grab shots of some other birds. I was able to focus on the vulture and get this one shot as he was flying past me. It happened so quickly that I actually had chopped off some of his wingtips at bottom, so this image reflects my attempt in CS2 to repair that problem (extended canvas at bottom, cloned sky bg from above extended area, cloned in tips of the 3 bottom wing feathers).

20D, 300mm f4L + 1.4x TC, 1/3200s @ f6.3, ISO 200

I love the "Peace Eagle." It's hard for a shot to show the wonderful beauty of this bird. Such a shot must be taken from a mile or two away, because other wise you have to see the details....

But they really are sweet birds. I wrote an essay on HOW SWEET - and they're certainly nicer than us. And the sad about about my humour here is that I'm not kidding on this point...
