These images were all shot at Floyd Bennet Airfield. Abandoned 50 years ago, part of it has reverted to wilderness. These first three are of male and female Downy Woodpeckers.

There was a strange little bird, only three or four inches long, hopping around this grass covered road (that 50 years ago was asphalt - Mother nature never rests). Turned out to be a female Ruby Crowned Kinglet. Now if I could only find hubby my life would be complete...

Nice, Dave. The first and last are my favorites.

Isn't the Kinglet adorable? I actually like the images of her hopping along the ground, with both feet in the air...:-)

And the little lady didn't even notice me. I was frozen in place in shadows and she almost hopped onto my foot - way too close for me to photograph.

Awesome shots - especially of the kinglet. They are tough to get!

Yes...:?:

This girl was bouncing around the grassy road like someone stuck a pin in her. Lucky for me she hung around long enough to get some good shots.

Great shots all, but I really like the first one.
